Amber Collingwood

Amber Collingwood is the Head of Research Operations for the UK MND Research Institute and has worked in research management, delivery, and governance at King’s College London for 15 years.

Amber leads research operations, partnerships, and strategy for the UK’s first virtual Motor Neuron Disease Research Institute, hosted within King’s College London. Her role centres on accelerating the search for a cure by building a coordinated, patient-centred research ecosystem that connects scientists, charities, industry partners, and patients. With 15 year’s experience in research management, including five years in executive leadership, I manage multimillion-pound research portfolios, foster collaborations across academic, clinical, and industry sectors, and translate strategic objectives into operational reality. I’m driven by the belief that breakthrough research happens at the intersection of strong relationships and strategic coordination.

After graduating in 2010 with a BA in Anthropology from Goldsmiths College, University of London, Amber has maintained an interest in social, economic and political aspects of clinical research, specifically clinical research ethics. She has obtained a Masters’ degree in Bioethics and Society from the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine at King’s College London.

Amber possesses core expertise in clinical research governance and ethics from almost 10 years as a committee member and alternate vice chair for the National Research Ethics Service; research project management, and patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE).
