After a successful career in financial market publishing, David was diagnosed with MND in 2012. He requires 24/7 care from his wife, Helen.
In recognition of his services to financial publishing and to associated charitable work, he was admitted into the U.S.-based Futures Industry Association Hall of Fame in 2015 and as a Freeman of the City of London in 2019.
His relatively slow progression has given him the opportunity to get involved in various campaigning, fundraising and awareness raising activities for MND charities, notably, the MND Association. Along with fellow patients, David was heavily involved with the United to End MND campaign which resulted in the promise of a £50 million investment over 5 years by government into targeted, translational MND research and the associated virtual UK MND Research Institute.
